"""Counterfactual persona harness for a tool-calling loan agent. Standard library only.

    python loan_agent_persona_harness.py agent --base-url http://127.0.0.1:11434/v1 --model qwen2.5:7b
    python loan_agent_persona_harness.py committee --base-url http://127.0.0.1:11434/v1 --model qwen2.5:7b

Works against any OpenAI-compatible chat endpoint that supports tool calls
(Ollama, vLLM, OpenRouter, OpenAI). Set OPENAI_API_KEY if your endpoint needs one.

THE DESIGN (a controlled test, evidence grade E2, not a log you happened to have):
  * 30 fixed applicant profiles, most of them borderline, because a clear case
is decided the same way for everyone and teaches nothing.
  * Each profile is sent once per persona. A persona is ONLY a name: twelve
names that signal gender and origin, plus one unnamed control. Nothing
    else in the application changes.
  * Common random numbers: every persona of the same profile and repeat gets
the SAME sampling seed, so a difference between two personas is the name
    and not the dice.
  * Repeats measure the noise floor: how often the agent changes its mind on
the identical application. A gap between groups smaller than that floor
    is not a finding.

agent one agent, four tools. Writes one row per episode in the vfairness
trace contract (trace_id, group, tool, ...) plus OpenTelemetry GenAI
spans, so it runs through run_pulse unchanged.
committee two agents. A screener scores the risk; a reviewer decides, once
alone (pre-interaction) and once after reading the screener's note
(post-interaction). Writes per-agent outputs for compositionality
           and emergent-bias tests.

Names are a standard correspondence-testing cue (Bertrand and Mullainathan,
2004). They signal a group to the model; they say nothing about any real person.
